Hello.

My name is Mary Elsie. I am Athabascan/Iñupiaq from Fairbanks, Alaska. I am a mother to my four beautiful children and married to my best friend. 

I've always been creative. I always loved to draw, write, scrapbook, etc. So it only felt natural to tap back into my creative side, but I didn't want to just create for myself, I wanted to share it with everyone.

I made candles for a short time, with the idea that heavily leaned on scents inspired by Alaska, culture, tradition and places that meant a lot to me, but, life had different plans.

 After losing my mother in 2021 we moved from Alaska, to Maine, and my passion quickly evolved. It's not easy to sell a candle inspired by Alaska to Maine, lol.  So I pivoted, and during that adjustment period I found a new passion, beading, and it was so therapeutic to me and I've loved it ever since.

Satu is my Iñupiaq name given to me by my late grandmother when I was just a baby. It was passed down to me in honor of her sister Mary. It is a name that I take great pride in and am so honored to carry with me through all different seasons of my life. That is how Satu and Sage came to be. It is my connection and serves as a reminder that no matter where life takes me, I always have a piece of home.
